Let’s face it. Who needs to get away on holiday to just sit back and put their feet up? A couple of months ago we went rock climbing in Wales so this is the first trip since then. On this trip we will be taking our cycles to the merry old IOW. Since my last visist it has been a long time. That can’t have changed a great deal i am sure.

The island of The Isle Of Wight is only 23 miles wide by 13 miles deep which is perfect for cycling. The plan is to tour oround ajust a couple of the islands many cycle paths and routes that include the ’round the island’ 62 mile cycle route during the weekend stay. Over the first couple of days our group has decided to spend time on the Isle of Wight cycling. In the morning on Saturday we will begin by cycling along the Bembridge coastal to Northwood via the Norton Undercliff. Apparently The Needles Pub has a great beer garden with some of the best views onto the Solent. Some of our fellow club members have shared this information with us. It takes a lot to keep us Explorers from the outdoors and the weather this weekend is predicted to be fine and mild!

So we are setting off on the Friday morning by car to Southampton to catch the early IOW ferry to East Cowes. We should reach the hostel where we are staying in a good enough time to get cycling immediatly as it only takes an hour! On my next trip report i’ll be letting you know how the trip went.
